Rochdale 3-0 Bury

New manager John Coleman guided Rochdale to a first win in 10 matches as they moved off the bottom of League One with victory over Bury.

Dale went ahead when Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro converted a rebound after a header from Gary Jones bounced off Shakers goalkeeper Cameron Belford.

Ashley Grimes scored from close in and then added his second, chipping Belford after a cut-back from Nicky Adams.

Bury's Ashley Eastham and Lenell John-Lewis had shots saved by Peter Kurucz.

Grimes had failed to score since 1 October prior to his brace.

We were second best - Barker

"If I'm honest, we were lucky that it wasn't worse.

"I said to the players that the new manager coming in at Rochdale would have a big effect on them.

"We never got going. We needed to match them early on but we just didn't get a foot-hold in it."

Rochdale boss John Coleman told BBC Radio Manchester:

Players deserve plaudits - Coleman

"The players were superb today. It's not about the coaching staff. They deserve all the plaudits today.

"There were times where I thought I'd taken over at Inter Milan or Brazil, some of the football was brilliant.

"I was scratching my head thinking 'how has this team dropped to the bottom of the league?'

"We told the players at half-time that they had to go out and enjoy it."
