East Fife 2-0 Albion Rovers

Scottish Football League

East Fife recorded their second win in the space of three days as they scored twice late on to leave Albion Rovers second bottom in Division Two.

Scott Dalziel squandered two good chances for the home side in the first half, while John Gemmell went close with a header at the other end.

Substitute Robert Sloan had been on the pitch for just over a minute when he provided an instant impact to break the deadlock.

The midfielder latched on to Craig Johnstone's flick-on and lashed the ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards in the 77th minute.

East Fife made sure of the points two minutes from time when Johnstone cut the ball across for Robert Linn, who slammed home from the edge of the area.

Rovers are now only two points clear of Stirling, who have three games in hand, while the Fifers move out of the relegation zone and into fifth spot - two points off a promotion play-off place.
