Roy Walker stepped down as Ballymena manager last month

Former Ballymena manager Roy Walker and ex-Cliftonville boss Eddie Patterson are understood to have applied for the vacant managerial post at Glentoran.

Walker stepped down as Ballymena United manager last month, while Patterson was sacked by Cliftonville last season.

Applications for the post closed on Tuesday and a shortlist will be drawn up over the next few days.

Marty Quinn and Paul Kirk have both indicated that they have not thrown their hat in the ring for the job.

Walker was briefly appointed Glens boss in 2007 but had to step down as he didn't have a Uefa licence at that time.

Meanwhile, Glentoran striker Matty Burrows has signed for Glenavon while the Glens have released Stewart Greacen after his short stint at the club.

Scottish defender Greacen only signed for the club from Derry City in December.
