Colchester 2-1 Brentford

Two goals from substitute Steven Gillespie helped Colchester come from behind to beat Brentford.

Brentford went ahead through Niall McGinn's strike, the midfielder lashed home after Ben Williams saved Gary Alexander's penalty.

Gillespie restored parity with a close-range finish, following up after Anthony Wordsworth's fierce strike hit the bar.

The striker sealed the win from 25 yards, leaving Richard Lee helpless.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Colchester United manager John Ward told BBC Essex:

"To be fair, we deserved to comeback, we certainly didn't deserve to get beat.

Ward proud of 'deserved comeback'

"I think for a large part of the game the fact that both teams hadn't played for two and a half weeks kind of showed.

"It lacked a wee bit of quality, and I think that comes down to probably not being out on grass for that period of time.

"The changes helped, and the comeback was strong, we finished very strongly, the goals gave us that confidence to do so."
