Macclesfield 0-1 Aldershot

Aldershot's Aaron Morris scored to condemn 10-man Macclesfield to their seventh successive defeat.

The home side were reduced to 10 men close to the hour mark when Carl Tremarco was shown a straight red card for a foul on Guy Madjo.

The Shots capitalised when Macclesfield failed to clear Josh Payne's cross, allowing Morris to fire in a low shot from close range.

Troy Brown almost added a second but his 20-yard volley hit the crossbar.

Simpson backs Macclesfield to react

"I thought we probably edged it apart from at the end when we were chucking players forward.

"We know we're thin on the ground and we've done a deal to take Ben Futcher from Bury, hopefully on Monday morning.

"The only positive we can take out of it is we've been in games and we've had a hell of a lot of players out.

"Results are my responsibility and I take that on my shoulders. We know it's tough but I believe in the lads."

Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey:

"I'm really delighted for the lads. They listened and we did the basics well.

Holdsworth pleased with team spirit

"We stuck together and they're a real team spirit there. Ross Worner made two outstanding saves, and they earned their clean sheet

"Its important for these lads because it reinstalls the belief that I've talked to them about, that they're good players, and they've got the ability to go on these sort of runs.

"If you do, you get your nine points and it takes you right up the division."
