'Suarez lessons must be learned'
- From the section Football
Ex-FA chief executive Brian Barwick says action must be taken to ensure there is no repeat of Saturday's incident between Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra, when the Liverpool forward refused to shake the Manchester United skipper's hand before a 2-1 defeat.
Suarez was banned for eight matches for racially abusing Evra during the Premier League encounter last October, and Barwick believes the footballing world should move forward and not let the incident and the subsequent controversy "spoil" the game of football.
Ex-Liverpool defender Gary Gillespie adds that the Reds' reputation has not been "damaged" and "can be repaired", while former-United player Arthur Albiston describes the incident as a "sad reflection on English football".
