Fleetwood Town 6-2 Ebbsfleet United

Jamie Vardy hit a hat-trick at Highbury as Blue Square Bet Premier leaders Fleetwood hammered Ebbsfleet to do their goal difference a power of good.

Ebbsfleet shocked the home side when Liam Enver-Marum found the top corner.

But the Cod Army roared back to lead 4-1 by the break, thanks to goals from Gareth Seddon, Peter Cavanagh, Vardy and an Andy Mangan penalty.

Vardy scored two long-range stunners to make it 6-1 by the hour but Enver-Marum had the last word with his second goal.

Fleetwood's win made it six wins out of seven as they stay two points clear of nearest rivals Wrexham, who won 1-0 at Kidderminster.

The visitors had high hopes after Enver-Marum's early strike, but Fleetwood levelled straight from the kick-off when Seddon's shot came back off a post and he coolly converted.

Cavanagh then finished neatly from Alan Goodall's cross before Town added a third when Vardy followed up Magno Vieira's parried shot.

And Mangan scored from the spot after Yado Mambo brought down Vardy.

It took Fleetwood just three second-half minutes to score their fifth, Vardy curling home a 25-yard stunner.

And the prolific striker completed his hat-trick with an even better goal - a superb lob from distance to take his tally to 25 for the season.

After Vardy was replaced by Richard Brodie, Fleetwood went off the boil, Enver-Marum grabbing his second with a well-taken strike from the edge of the area.

Daish accepts Fleet beaten by better side

"We showed naivety at times and a lack of communication against a side who you can see why they are top of the league.

"They were brighter, sharper, fitter and clinical with their finishing.

"You can see why they will probably end up in the league next year.

"Jamie Vardy, what's he (worth) - £750,000? That buys the whole club for us."
