Guernsey beat Farleigh Rovers 5-1 in 'comfortable' win

Guernsey

Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance called his side's 5-1 victory at Farleigh Rovers a 'comfortable' win.

Ross Allen and Dominic Heaume put the Green Lions 2-0 up at the break before Ryan-Zico Black, Dave Rihoy and Glyn Dyer added second half strikes.

The win puts Guernsey 13 points clear at the top of the Combined Counties League Division One as they look for promotion in their first season.

"It was a comfortable victory really," Vance told BBC Guernsey.

"The first 20-30 minutes we had a an awful lot of possession, they pretty much put all their men behind the ball but we kept pressing and pressing and eventually got the goal."

But Vance says he was unhappy that his side conceded a penalty in the last five minutes.

"It was maybe a bit more comfortable than some games would be, and it was disappointing to concede a goal, especially when we'd spoken about that thing before the game," he added.

"But at the end of the day it's three points and that's all we're after."

The match was Guernsey's last away game of the season in the league and the island side need just four more wins to guarantee the title.
