Allen says competition for places in Guernsey FC side is 'intense'
Guernsey FC's top-scorer Ross Allen says competition for places in Tony Vance's side is intense as they prepare for their top-of-the-table clash with Bedfont Sports on Saturday.
They will take the Combined Counties League Division One title with a win.
And Allen says it has led to everyone wanting a place in the side.
"It's the big game, win it and we win the league so this week's going to be really intense and competitive at training," he told BBC Guernsey.
"Tony Vance has got a really hard job to pick an 11 for that game so good luck to him," added the striker, who has scored 55 league and cup goals for the Green Lions this season.
The title would end a tremendous first season in English football for the island side.
They joined the Combined Counties League Division One this season after launching Guernsey FC in the summer and have been beaten just twice in the league and once in the cup all season.
"It will be a credit to everyone involved," Allen said.
"It's been a season of hard work, a lot of us aren't used to this many games and the travelling has been a massive thing this year.
"It would be the icing on the cake for what's been a really good first season for Guernsey FC and fantastic for the supporters as well."
