Martinez has potential - Barnes
- From the section Football
Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers are among those on Liverpool's shortlist to succeed Kenny Dalglish as manager.
The Wigan chairman Dave Whelan says he expected Liverpool to call to ask to speak to Martinez and would not stand in the way of him taking over at Anfield.
Liverpool are also reported to be lining up an approach for Pep Guardiola who quit Barcelona to take a break from football.
Former Liverpool winger John Barnes told BBC Radio 5 live's Tony Livesey that either Martinez or Rodgers could do the job but doubted whether Liverpool could attract the biggest names.
