Morecambe 3-0 Rochdale
Kevin Ellison celebrated signing a new one-year contract with a stunning strike for Morecambe in their convincing win over Rochdale.
Chris McCready stabbed home from Ryan Williams's corner to open the scoring.
Ellison, who committed his future to the the Shrimps before the game, fired in a 35-yard volley to double their lead.
Three minutes later Andy Fleming slotted in from Will Haining's cross, as Keith Hill's Dale slumped to a second successive 3-0 defeat.
The visitors, who lost to Accrington on Tuesday, saw their best chance come from Terry Gornell in the second half, but his low shot was well saved by Barry Roche.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Morecambe manager Jim Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"Kevin's goal was certainly the best I've seen in a Morecambe shirt.
"If it was in the Premier League, it would be all over Match of the Day tonight. It was an unbelievable strike.
"It came at a time when Rochdale were on top and it settled everyone down.
"I'm sure everyone will go away talking about that strike. It was that good."
Rochdale manager Keith Hill told BBC Radio Manchester:
"There were no strong words after Tuesday because I think it took everybody by surprise. The performance wasn't too bad there.
"We never got going today and the performance really disappointed me today.
"I've seen the true colours of one or two of my players today. You can't afford to have two or three players who aren't performing to a respectable standard and expect to be competitive against a team like Morecambe."
