Morecambe: Ryan Williams eager to maintain scoring record
Morecambe midfielder Ryan Williams is hopeful of continuing his goalscoring exploits for the rest of his first full season in the Football League.
The 22-year-old netted a stunning free-kick to and again scored from long range in the
"When I was playing in non-league at Rhyl, I used to score quite regularly," Williams told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I'm hoping to try and bring that into my game a bit more this season."
He added: "The gaffer [Jim Bentley] always tells me to be positive and get my shots off at goals. It shows the belief he's got in me."
Williams joined the Shrimps in January and played 16 times last season, scoring twice, and has already matched that tally in 2013-14.
Morecambe, who have one of the smallest budgets in the fourth tier, have experienced a mixed opening to the season.
Defeat at Wycombe was followed by their shock cup win and a 1-1 draw with the Gulls, a start which has given Williams and the Shrimps cause for optimism.
"If we can some consistency, get a good little run going and get plenty of points as early as we can, potentially we could have a very good season," he added.
