Grimsby 3-1 Tamworth

Ross Hannah

Grimsby Town beat Tamworth at Blundell Park to secure their third straight home Conference Premier victory.

Home defender Shaun Pearson broke the deadlock 11 minutes after the break with his second goal in as many games, firing home from 12 yards out.

Ross Hannah then doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Ben Richards-Everton had brought down Craig Disley.

Andy Todd pulled one back, tapping in from six yards, but sub Liam Hearn slotted in the clincher from 12 yards.

Meanwhile, Tamworth have loaned out Jake Jones to Northern Premier League side Kings Lynn Town on a two-month deal.

Post-match: Grimsby Town boss Hurst

"A pleasing win today and all the emphasis really was on building on Tuesday night [5-2 win over Dartford].

"So it wasn't a case of we can turn up every now and again. It wasn't as free flowing but a lot of that is down to Tamworth's approach.

"I don't blame them at all for coming and wanting to slow things down.

"We tried to ask questions of them early on and today I thought we had done that and then it kind of got to the point a couple of times we nearly got in off one ball.

"I think we maybe caught between wanting to play a little and still looking for that one ball to get us in. He'll (Ross Hannah) be delighted his name is on the score sheet."
