Hyde 0-3 Braintree Town

Braintree climbed to third after two goals from Charlie Strutton and one from Jordan Cox consigned Hyde to their ninth consecutive defeat.

The Iron broke the deadlock when Strutton pounced on a poor pass by Will Haining before slotting home.

Strutton doubled their advantage when a Sam Habergham free-kick was nodded down to the striker by substitute Jordan Cox and he made no mistake from 12 yards.

Cox then got his name on the scoresheet with a neat swivel and shot.

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:

"I was a bit disappointed with the way we played in the first half, especially in the first 20 minutes, I wasn't happy with what we did.

"We sorted a few things out at half-time and I thought we totally bossed it second half - 3-0 might flatter us a little bit, but we'll take it.

"We've got 26 points to get [to avoid relegation], that's all we are about at the moment. If we get it quickly then happy days.

"There's better players in this team than people give them credit for. Some people don't see it. Yes, you've got to have a good work ethic and a good team spirit, we've got that, but I've got some good players."
