Cambridge United 1-0 Hereford United

Cambridge United continued their unbeaten start to the season as loan signing Kwesi Appiah's strike gave them a narrow win over Hereford United.

Appiah fired home from 25 yards to put the Conference Premier leaders ahead as they piled on the early pressure.

Josh Coulson almost added a second, but his long range effort was tipped around the post by Rhys Evans before Liam Hughes' volley hit the bar.

Hereford threatened through Sam Smith and Jonathan Brown but could not score.

Bulls manager Martin Foyle told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"I'm a little bit gutted that we lost. We've run one of the favourites right to the wire.

"We looked a bit nervy in the first 15 minutes but we changed it to 4-3-3 and, after that, we more than matched them.

"Football's hard sometimes. We've hit a few injuries again. Kingsley James is struggling with his right knee. But we've got to take a lot out of a performance like this."
