Alfreton Town 3-0 FC Halifax Town

Jake Speight scored twice in the first half as Alfreton claimed a comfortable victory over Halifax.

The on-loan Mansfield striker opened his account when he lashed home from 12 yards out.

He headed his second in from close range after John Akinde nodded back a Josh Law corner.

Akinde then got on the scoresheet after the break, capitalising from close range after Halifax failed to clear their lines.

Lee Gregory hit a post late on for the visitors, whose three-game unbeaten league run came to an end.

Post-match: Alfreton manager Law

"I thought it was a great all round performance against a side which has obviously scored a lot of goals this year.

"You can see why. They've got centre halves playing in centre midfield and they're a big strong powerful side, but we matched them.

"Without being too disrespectful, I think it could have been six or seven nil. I'm not saying it should have been, but it could have been.

"We had that many chances and I think we limited them to very few and I think it was a great all round performance to be fair."
