Welling United 1-0 Lincoln City

Welling keeper Lee Butcher produced a stunning display to earn his side victory in a tight affair at Park View Road.

Both keepers were called into action early on with Butcher denying Ben Tomlinson and David Preece then expertly saved a Blaine Hudson header.

The visitors pressed for the lead and Butcher was busy again, twice keeping out efforts from Marlon Jackson.

The hosts winner came when Jake Gallagher converted Joe Healy's pass.

Post-match: Lincoln manager Simpson

"We deserved something out of the game, there's no two ways about it. We've had that many chances - we've hit the woodwork, we've worked their keeper. I can't fault the lads, they've given everything they've got and I thought we were the better team to be honest.

"I'm just hoping things are going to turn and we'll get the rub of the green. We're disappointed and the lads are a little bit down because they've worked extremely hard. We made half a mistake and it's cost us.

"We're looking all the time at how we can improve on scoring goals but it was about taking them today. If we'd taken the chances we'd have won comfortably."
