Gateshead 1-1 Welling United

Marcus Maddison scored a second-half penalty as Conference Premier high-flyers Gateshead were forced to settle for a point against resolute Welling.

Joe Healy opened the scoring with his third goal in two games, nodding home a Ross Lafayette cross from close range.

JJ O'Donnell wasted a great chance to level when his shot hit the bar.

Maddison made no mistake after the break, equalising from the penalty spot after he was felled by Healy, however neither side could find a winner.

The draw leaves Gateshead fourth in the table, two points behind Alfreton in third place, while Welling remain 13th.
