Hamilton Academical 1-0 Greenock Morton

Hamilton survived a second half onslaught from Morton to end a run of four games without a Championship win.

Mickael Antoine-Curier nodded in a James Keatings cross on 24 minutes, while a Darian MacKinnon volley was well saved by Nicolas Caraux.

Morton improved greatly after the break and on-loan Barrie McKay had a free kick parried by Blair Currie.

Jake Nicholson could not profit from the loose ball and the same player had a header cleared off the line.

The victory keeps Hamilton within two points of league leaders Dundee after a recent wobble, while Morton remain rooted to the bottom.

But new manager Kenny Shiels will be heartened by a good showing in the second 45 minutes.

With the visitors playing a high defensive line, Accies dominated the first period but only had Antoine-Curier's header to show for their efforts.

The goal came when Ali Crawford robbed defender Steven Stirling to release Keatings, who set up the French striker with a perfect delivery.

McKay, with Morton for a month from Rangers, drew a save from Currie with a free kick and Nicholson failed to knock in the rebound.

Substitute Nicholson then had a header bundled away by a defender guarding the goal-line and David McNeil nodded over from the resulting corner.

Nicholson had another good chance to level when he chased down a through ball from Aidan Fulton but failed to make contact near the back post.

With Morton piling forward, Hamilton broke away late on, with a three-against-one advantage and Andy Ryan's strike was inches wide of doubling the home lead.
