Wrexham under strength for Boxing Day clash with Alfreton

Wrexham manager Andy Morrell

Wrexham are without at least three first-team regulars for their home match against Alfreton Town on Boxing Day in the Football Conference.

Striker Andy Bishop and midfielders Jay Harris and Joe Clarke are all suspended and there are also injury doubts over defender Stephen Wright and Captain Dean Keates.

"We're a bit thin on the ground," said Wrexham manager Andy Morrell.

"It's an opportunity for people to take a chance if they're thrown it."

Wrexham, unbeaten in their last three games in the Conference, face an Alfreton side who are 11 points above them in fourth.

The Dragons, who knocked Town out of the FA Cup in November, also face them again on New Year's Day.

Morrell is confident of success despite the lack of players at his disposal.

"They're a big physical team and they're going really well this year," said Morrell.

"But if we play and we get about people like we did with the energy we had on Saturday then we'll do alright."
