Alfreton Town 1-0 Wrexham
Alfreton Town beat Wrexham for the second time in six days in the Conference Premier to boost their play-off hopes.
Town took the lead right on the stroke of half-time when John Akinde latched onto Daniel Meadows' long ball to score from a tight angle.
Wrexham skipper Robbie Evans hit the crossbar with just the keeper to beat on 75 minutes.
Alfreton are third following their fifth win in a row. Wrexham are 15th.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Alfreton manager Nicky Law told BBC Radio Derby:
"I'm delighted with that. I think that was our fifth game in 17 days which is a big, big ask and on top of that, the conditions were were extremely heavy.
"I thought John Worsnop and the back four were excellent in the second half.
"They stayed as a good unit and kept a good shape and defended everything that Wrexham chucked at them."
Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell told BBC Radio Wales:
"We shouldn't have got beat in either game.
"But for one minute in the first half, where we conceded a sloppy goal, I thought we defended fine.
"We are not clinical enough at the moment in the final third."
