Barnet 1-0 Alfreton Town

Dani Lopez fired his first goal of the season as Conference Premier play-off chasers Barnet halted a run of three straight defeats by beating Alfreton.

Luisma Villa went close to giving Barnet a third-minute lead when his free-kick flashed inches wide.

Lopez then fired an unstoppable 25-yard shot beyond Alfreton goalkeeper Jon Worsnop via the woodwork for 1-0.

John Akinde and Dan Bradley forced Barnet's Nick Jupp into decent saves while Jake Hyde was off target late on.

Post-match: Alfreton manager Law

"I think it was a pretty even game really. We're disappointed in the nature of the goal we've given away, but to fair, that's a goal worthy of winning any game.

"But we're disappointed about how we get to the point where the lad's getting the shot off. And we're disappointed that we didn't close him down.

"When we got to the business end of the pitch in the top third, we've probably not been bright enough if I'm honest. But on balance, I think maybe a draw would have been a fairer result.

"At the end of the day, I've got no complaints. That runs gone, it's finished and we have to go again."
