Morecambe: Jim Bentley looking to sign players in transfer window

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley says he is looking to sign players for the club during the January transfer window.

The Shrimps have failed to win in their last three League Two games, but drew 1-1 at Torquay on Saturday.

"I would like to add to the squad, it gives you a lift. We have been light on bodies since day one," Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"We have had to name a youthful bench at times and we have some untried players. That is the way it is."

Bentley's side lie ninth in the table, just two points off a play-off spot, but have played three more games than some of the other promotion-chasing teams.

However, the former Morecambe defender feels bringing in new players will provide a boost to the squad.

"We are not one of the bigger clubs, with the financial clout of some of the other teams around us," added Bentley. "We knew we would be stretched for bodies throughout the season.

"Hopefully we can get in a position to freshen things up - we have played against teams and seen what a new face can do.

"I know exactly where we need to strengthen, and hope we can get [new] blood in over the coming weeks."
