Paris Saint Germain 3-0 Valenciennes

Zlatan Ibrahimovic celebrates scoring for Paris St-Germain against Valenciennes

Paris St-Germain opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the French League after a comfortable win over struggling Valenciennes.

Argentina forward Ezequiel Lavezzi set Laurent Blanc's side ahead with a left-foot finish from inside the area.

Two goals in as many second-half minutes sealed the points - Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubling the lead with his 19th goal in 24 league games.

It was 3-0 when Valenciennes defender Gary Kagelmacher scored an own goal.

Blanc's team, who face Bayer Leverkusen in Germany in the Champions round of 16 on 18 February, are closing in on back-to-back titles.

They are unbeaten in nine games and this was their ninth win in 10 home league outings.

France midfielder Yohan Cabaye made his first start for the club following a £19m move from Newcastle last month.

Valenciennes remain third bottom in the table after a third defeat in four games, two points from safety.
