Gateshead 1-1 Forest Green Rovers
Ten-man Gateshead's play-off challenge continues to stutter as they had to rely on a late Liam Hatch goal to earn a point against Forest Green Rovers.
The hosts, who have now not won in five games, had striker Marcus Maddison sent off for serious foul play following a tackle on Dale Bennett on 22 minutes.
They fell behind when veteran forward Lee Hughes scored from the penalty spot after John Oster felled James Norwood.
But Hatch drilled home from 12 yards with a minute left to salvage a draw.
Gateshead are two points off the Conference play-off places, while in 15th spot in the table.
Gateshead manager Gary Mills told BBC Newcastle:
"The players responded magnificently to Tuesday's defeat and I thought we were better side with 10 men.
"We also had a player sent off last Saturday and we go to a certain shape when we go down to 10 men, which requites discipline and desire.
"I am disappointed with the sending off because I thought their centre-half went in two-footed and I am also disappointed with the penalty, which I thought was very soft.
"Sometimes decisions go against you but my players kept going and got the point they thoroughly deserved."
Forest Green Rovers manager Adrian Pennock told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:
"Before the game we would have taken a point, but I'm obviously now disappointed that we conceded late on.
"I think we were okay all game but we were a little bitty. We've come here and played against a good team and got a point.
"I worked with Liam Hatch at Gravesend. I should have kicked him in the tunnel beforehand shouldn't I?"
