Welling United 1-0 Macclesfield Town

Welling leapfrogged Conference Premier rivals Macclesfield after an impressive second-half performance at Park View Road.

The first half provided few chances for either side but the hosts began to press after the break.

On-loan Cambridge defender Blaine Hudson finally broke the deadlock when he headed home from close range.

Welling could not find a second, whilst Macclesfield rarely threatened to find an equaliser.

The win sees Welling move up a place to 11th whilst Macclesfield slip one to 12th.

Post match: Welling boss Jamie Day

"I'm pleased but we've got to keep the run going. We were in control. It was just about being patient, getting the first and then trying to get a second.

"We didn't but we were comfortable. It was just keeping the clean sheet.

"We've got a points target of 50 and we're almost there. We've just got to finish in the top half."
