Gateshead 2-0 Cambridge United

Gateshead booked their place in the Conference Premier play-off places after a 2-0 win against fellow promotion chasers Cambridge United.

United had already assured second place while the Tynesiders needed a point to seal their spot, and goals from Colin Larkin and Rob Ramshaw were enough.

Larkin's goal was slightly fortuitous, his left-wing cross sailing over keeper Adam Smith to put Gateshead ahead.

Ramshaw added a second when he bundled in after Ryan Noble's header was saved.

Marcus Maddison could have added to the tally for Gateshead but was twice denied by Smith as Cambridge slipped to a fourth defeat in a row.

Cambridge will face FC Halifax in their play-off double-header while Gateshead's reward is a two-legged tie against Grimsby.
