St Mirren boss Craig confirms goalkeeper Chris Dilo's exit

Goalkeeper Chris Dilo was signed by Tommy Craig's predecessor Danny Lennon

Manager Tommy Craig has revealed St Mirren have released goalkeeper Christopher Dilo, after the Frenchman failed to respond to a contract offer.

Craig's predecessor Danny Lennon signed Dilo from Blackburn Rovers last summer and he made 13 appearances for the Paisley outfit.

"Chris Dilo was offered a contract and we haven't heard back from him since," said Craig.

"The fact that we have now signed Mark Ridgers means Chris won't be back."

Former Hearts goalkeeper Ridgers was Craig's first signing as Buddies boss after replacing Lennon in May.

Dilo's departure, and that of Darren McGregor to Rangers, means nine players have now left St Mirren this summer.

Craig, however, has not given up hope of persuading in-demand midfielder Kenny McLean to re-sign for the club.

The 22-year-old's contract with the Paisley outfit has expired and he is a reported target for several clubs in England.

"We're waiting on Kenny McLean getting back from holiday, and when he does we hope to get something more concrete in terms of information from him," added Craig.

The 63-year-old also revealed Gary Harkins, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Oldham, could be set to return to the Boundary Park club next term.
