Roy Carroll
Roy Carroll kept his second clean sheet of the season for Notts County

Peterborough lost leadership of the League One table as a determined Notts County hung on to claim a point.

The injury-hit Magpies' back four was made up of four 21-year-olds, including debutant loanee Louis Laing.

But they limited Posh to just a few chances, with Roy Carroll saving well from Jack Baldwin's header, while substitute Luke James blazed over.

Jake Cassidy's drive wide, after being teed up by Liam Noble, was the closest Notts came to breaking the deadlock.

Marcus Maddison might have won it for the hosts at the death, but he could not find the target after a slip from Gary Jones.

The draw saw Peterborough slip below Bristol City, who were 3-0 victors over Doncaster, while County, still unbeaten on the road in league action this season, remain in mid-table.

Notts County manager Shaun Derry told BBC Radio Nottingham:

Derry on Notts v Peterborough

"I've said to the lads this club has been building blocks for the past few years.

"That today looked like a complete performance. We looked like a team that first and foremost knew what we were doing, we had plenty of character and I am delighted.

"Louis Lang had a great game. We owe Forest for letting us bring him in. The best tribute is that we didn't miss Haydn Mullins.

"Certain quarters were looking at the type of signings I made but throughout the season you will see a lot of younger players. The average age of our back four today showed that."
