Coventry kept up their winning return to the Ricoh Arena with a 2-1 win over Yeovil Town which enabled the Sky Blues to climb to fifth in League One.

Having beaten Gillingham last Friday night, the first game back in the city in 503 days, they again scored early.

Reda Johnson powered home a header from Jim O'Brien's perfectly placed corner.

Sam Foley levelled from 10 yards just after the break, but Simeon Jackson struck the winner after Chris Weale had parried Frank Nouble's shot.

Midfielder O'Brien had almost doubled City's lead just three minutes after they had scored when he hit the bar from long range.

But Yeovil hit the woodwork themselves when AJ Leitch-Smith tried his luck from just inside the area and James Hayter's acrobatic follow-up was off target.

Coventry's victory extends their unbeaten run to seven matches, while Yeovil drop to 16th.

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley took charge for the first time since tying his long-term future to the club by signing a new four-year deal in midweek.

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire:

"It was always going to be tough, but we continue with our momentum and there's a confidence about the group. There's a terrific spirit and terrific mentality here.

"There's a really good rapport just now with the players and supporters and it's bringing an energy to the club. I'm really proud.

"Slowly but surely, things are turning, but there's a lot of work ahead, and I keep telling the players that.

"But, in terms of how hard they're trying and how much they're giving this jersey, there can be no complaints at all."

Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson told BBC Somerset:

"I saw it as two mistakes. We need to do a lot better in our own penalty area when we're marking people.

Johnson on Coventry v Yeovil

"People get allocated players that they have to mark and their job is to make sure that player doesn't score.

"If you make two mistakes you will have to score three goals at a place like this to win a game and that's not going to happen."

"Nobody means to make a mistake but at the same time we need to assess how the goals are coming about."
