Scunthorpe United 1-2 Leyton Orient

Jobi McAnuff scored his first goal for new club Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient won at Scunthorpe to ease the pressure on manager Russell Slade.

Still unbeaten on their travels, Orient made a flying start as Scott Cuthbert headed home from Dean Cox's corner.

Scunthorpe equalised moments after the break when Matt Sparrow fired low and hard into the bottom corner after being teed up by Paddy Madden.

But just minutes later poor defending from a left-wing cross allowed Jobi McAnuff to bundle in from close range and restore Orient's lead.

Scunthorpe slipped to 22nd in the League One table, while Leyton Orient climbed to 17th.

Scunthorpe United manager Russ Wilcox told BBC Radio Humberside:

Wilcox on Scunthorpe v Leyton Orient

"We shot ourselves in the foot. We spoke about getting on the front foot you know to back up Tuesday night's performance and within two minutes we're on to Plan B.

"We spoke about getting balls into our front two early - certainly for the first five minutes - and we didn't do that.

"All the momentum from Tuesday - the players' confidence, the supporters' belief - went out of the window."

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade told BBC London 94.9:

"I thought we created ample opportunity, that was a positive thing, even though we left ourselves vulnerable before half-time.

"It's a really good week for the football club. There's still a lot of work to do between now and the end of the season, but there's no doubt this group can get in the top six.

"We've been magnificent away from home, our form is great, but at home now we really have to turn that round."
