Aberdeen: Ryan Jack knee injury not serious

Aberdeen's Ryan Jack will be sidelined for weeks rather than months with the knee injury sustained in Tuesday's 4-0 League Cup win over Livingston.

The 22-year-old midfielder was carried off at Pittodrie and manager Derek McInnes feared a long-term lay-off.

However, a scan has revealed a slight tear to his medial ligament.

"We all feared the worst as he's an important player. Thankfully he's only going out be for a few weeks," said Dons boss McInnes.

"The knee is responding well to treatment. He's got severe bone bruising and a slight tear but nothing that's going to keep him out too long."

Former Scotland Under-21 captain Jack could return as early as the Dons' visit to Hamilton after the October international break.
