Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 Northampton Town

Ryan Cresswell's first half header put Northampton Town in front

Aaron Holloway's dramatic late header gave second-placed Wycombe Wanderers a share of the points against Northampton Town at Adams Park.

The Cobblers broke the deadlock midway through the first half after Ryan Cresswell nodded in Joel Byrom's cross.

Northampton ended the match with 10 men as Gregor Robertson was shown a second yellow card for time wasting.

The hosts kept pressing and were rewarded in added time when Holloway headed home Joe Jacobson's corner.

Wycombe Manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"It was a great advert for League Two. It wasn't the prettiest game and there were some good moves in patches by both teams, but I thought the first half was very even.

"Second half I thought we were the better side. We took the game to Northampton and put them under immense pressure. I thought the boys handled everything well.

"These games are the ones where there's not much in between them. We could have had no points today but I think that shows the spirit of where we are. We've got the guts and the grit to grind out a performance.

"I think every Wycombe fan has gone home happy tonight and quite justified in getting a point from one of the big hitters in the league."

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton:

"The referee has possibly not seen the fourth official, because we were making a substitution (when Gregor Robertson was sent off for time wasting).

"I like Gareth Ainsworth, he's a passionate guy and his teams have a go and it was League Two football. There wasn't a great deal of quality on show.

"I thought our two centre-halves were outstanding and we didn't feel in any real danger. When you get that close, the last 10 or 15 seconds, we should see it out and gain three points."
