Forest Green Rovers appeal to FA over points deduction

The points deduction saw Forest Green fall from ninth to 13th in the table - but they are now seventh

Forest Green Rovers have lodged an appeal with the Football Association against their three-points deduction for fielding an ineligible player.

The incident occurred on opening day of the Conference season, when Rovers defeated Southport 1-0.

They accepted the charge last month, when they were also fined £500, and offered to replay the game, but their request was rejected.

The Football Conference confirmed the appeal on Thursday.

Forest Green are currently seventh in the league, only one point from the play-off places and six from top spot.
