Rotherham United 1-1 Blackpool

Steve Davis
Blackpool remain bottom of the Championship table, 10 points from safety

A late howler from Rotherham goalkeeper Adam Collin handed bottom side Blackpool a 1-1 draw in the Championship at the New York Stadium.

Collin came rushing out of his goal to clear but missed the ball, leaving Steve Davies to roll into an open net.

Earlier, Jordan Bowery had given the home side the lead after cutting inside from the left before slotting home.

Nile Ranger and Nathan Delfouneso had good chances for the visitors but were unable to capitalise.

Rotherham's point lifts them out of the relegation zone, while Blackpool remain rooted to the bottom, 10 points adrift of safety.

Bottom side Blackpool
The Tangerines have won only one of their 19 games in all competitions this season - a 1-0 home victory over Cardiff in the Championship on 3 October.

It was the home side who created the first chance as Ben Pringle's dangerous ball was almost diverted into his own net by Blackpool skipper Peter Clarke.

Steve Evans: Rotherham manager on Blackpool draw

The goalkeepers were called into action as on-loan Rotherham midfielder Tom Lawrence forced Joe Lewis into a strong save before Collin kept out Ranger's header and Chris Eagles' bouncing effort.

The hosts looked to break the deadlock by sending on Bowery and the former Aston Villa striker made his impact by firing in a low effort.

Blackpool striker Delfouneso almost hit back straightaway after evading a number of challenges before firing a curling effort that went just over.

But the game was levelled up with five minutes to go when Collin's rush of blood left Davies with the simple task of slotting in.

Rotherham manager Steve Evans:

"It's just a hoof, Craig Morgan slips and then Adam Collin comes out. A 10-year-old should deal with it. He's a lovely kid but I don't want lovely kids, I want winners. He should hit it away, it's a huge error.

"The ball shouldn't get to him because our captain should deal with it. He slipped last week which led to a Birmingham goal and he slipped today so we've told him to sort his footwear out.

"By a country distance we deserved to win but if you make cardinal sins you get punished."

Blackpool manager Lee Clark:

"We obviously got a bit of luck with the goal but I felt at the time we were probably the team on the front foot. We were keeping good possession of the ball and creating one or two opportunities.

"Since the international break I've been encouraged by the last two performances. We have taken a couple of points from those and want to go on from there if we can.

"We need to change one point into three. That's the key for us and the quicker we start doing that the better."
