Bangor beat Crusaders 2-1 at Seaview

Goals from Barry Walsh and Ethan Boylan helped Bangor to a shock 2-1 victory over Crusaders at Seaview in the County Antrim Shield semi-final.

Walsh opened the scoring for Bangor with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box after 12 minutes.

Boylan doubled the away side's lead with a well-placed header in the second-half .

Crusaders pulled a goal back through Billy Joe Burns but were unable to complete the comeback.

The Crues were without two of their key players, captain Colin Coates and Paul Heatley, through injury and went behind early on after a good finish from Walsh.

Diarmuid O'Carroll then spurned a glorious chance when he fluffed his shot from six yards. Gavin Whyte had done very well to beat his man and get the cross to the back post.

The home side's clearest sight of goal was foiled by a crucial goal-line clearance from Colin Nixon to deny O'Carroll after Cairnduff flapped at a cross.

Garth Scates' side then doubled their the lead when Boylan peeled away from his man in the penalty area and placed his header into the top corner after 57 minutes, giving Bangor their second victory of the season over Crusaders.

Crusaders were given hope when Burns knocked in a Nathan Hanley cross at the back post with 13 minutes remaining.

Burns failed to double his tally in the dying moments when his header was tipped onto the post, as Bangor hung on to repeat their League Cup win over Stephen Baxter's men.
