Keith Curle: Carlisle changes forced by squad performances

Keith Curle's Carlisle have lost their last three games in League Two

Manager Keith Curle says his Carlisle United team selections reflect the inconsistency of performances within the squad at Brunton Park.

The Cumbrians are without a win in three games and are second from bottom of League Two after 20 games.

Curle has won five and lost six of his matches in charge since replacing Graham Kavanagh in September.

"The teams I put out are the best in my opinion for that particular occasion," Curle told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"Are there players who are doing enough week in, week out to guarantee their place? Not enough.

"That is apparent by the team selection. If there were seven, eight or nine players that were performing at their optimum, those players would likely be playing week in, week out."

United lost 2-0 at Exeter on Saturday to slide into the bottom two, with only Hartlepool United below them.
