Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 Luton Town

Wycombe Wanderers slipped off League Two's top spot as Jonathan Smith's leveller ensured Luton Town shared the points at Adams Park.

Paris Cowan-Hall hit his fifth goal in as many matches as he headed home Joe Jacobson's corner after three minutes.

But the visitors took just five minutes to respond as Smith teed up the ball from his chest to volley an equaliser.

Luton almost took home all three points but Andy Drury's late point-blank shot was parried away by Matt Ingram.

Chairboys manager Gareth Ainsworth signed a new long-term deal prior to the match but Shrewsbury's win at Oxford means Wycombe fall to second place.

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"We're more than happy with our performance. The lads dug deep, we're a small squad, a real tight squad.

"I've had lads out there feeling under the weather and they've come through leaps and bounds. I'm so proud of that performance today.

Ainsworth on Wycombe v Luton

"In this crazy world of uncertainty in management it's nice to commit long-term to somewhere.

"I want to prove to Wycombe fans that I want to do well for them and to everybody else that Wycombe Wanderers is a team who can compete in League Two and hopefully sustain itself in League One in a few years time."

Luton manager John Still told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"It was a terrific game to be honest. I think both sets of supporters supported their team fantastically.

"Both teams went at it and today we showed what Luton do. We battle, we don't stop, we work hard and everybody does their job.

"I thought we had a couple of good chances but chances come and go. Level of performance is always key to me. As long as you keep performing well results will come.

"Somebody asked me before the game if I would settle for a point and the answer is no. Ten minutes to go they asked and I said no. I always go to win."
