Cheltenham Town 1-3 Burton Albion

Adam McGurk
Adam McGurk's third league goal of the season helped Burton go back top of League Two

Burton stretched their unbeaten League Two run to 10 games as they returned to the top with a comfortable win at Cheltenham Town.

The Brewers took the lead through Stuart Beavon's opportunistic effort into the bottom corner from a rebound.

Adam McGurk headed in before Phil Edwards nodded home from six yards for 3-0 as the Robins fell apart.

Wes Burns grabbed a consolation for Paul Buckle's side after beating two players to fire into the top corner.

Cheltenham boss Paul Buckle told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"The dressing room was very flat at half-time. I decided to make a couple of changes, which didn't have the chance to come to fruition before they scored again.

"To get out of trouble, you need to do your job and do a bit more. We had enough experienced boys on the pitch to organise and we didn't.

"But what gave me hope was the spell we had in the second half. You could see some positive signs."

Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink:

"The goal we conceded was a blow. I don't like to get goals against but it's one of those things. One of those things to look at and analyse and get better from.

"We finished the first half really well and really comfortable and then the second half you always know they are going to come out with some extra energy.

"When you are very comfortable that's the danger. You know when you are not going 100 miles an hour and you back off that's the danger. And that's what happened when they scored."
