Queens Park Rangers midfielder Leroy Fer is expected to be out for 10 weeks after suffering medial ligament damage.

The midfielder picked up the injury during Tuesday's 2-0 win at Sunderland.

QPR said on Twitter that Fer, who has scored four goals this season, had "sustained a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee".

Fer, who joined QPR from Norwich in August 2014, headed the opener in the 17th minute, but was stretchered off 15 minutes from the end of the match.

The midfielder has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Rangers this season.

Commenting on Twitter about his injury, the 25-year-old Dutch international said: "Well done lads! Hopefully my injury is not too bad!"
