Dagenham & Redbridge 1-3 Burton Albion

Adam McGurk
Adam McGurk has scored four goals in his last six games for Burton Albion.

Burton Albion moved to the top of League Two following a hard-fought win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Stuart Beavon had the best chance of the first half but his deflected shot was spectacularly saved by Daggers keeper Mark Cousins.

Alex Jakubiak put the home side ahead with a neat finish before Burton's Adam McGurk equalised from close range.

Substitute Abdenasser El Khayati and Damien McCrory scored late on to seal victory for the Brewers.

Burton, who extended their unbeaten run to 13 games, are now three points clear at the top of the table after Shrewsbury lost at Tranmere.

Dagenham & Redbridge assistant manager Warren Hackett told BBC London 94.9:

Hackett on Dagenham v Burton Albion

"It was a very very scrappy game. There wasn't much in it and there wasn't much football played.

"There were just two relatively organised defences cutting out the opposition, cutting out the forwards to stop them getting an opportunity.

"I feel like we gave them three goals to be honest.

"In previous weeks we have been very organised defensively. I would expect that after going 1-0 up to a team at the top of the league to be concentrated."
