Peterborough United 1-0 Leyton Orient

Peterborough United winger Jon Taylor
Jon Taylor's cross looped into the net for the only goal of the game

Caretaker boss Dave Robertson made it three straight wins as 10-man Peterborough's play-off push continued with victory over Leyton Orient.

After a scrappy start, Posh went ahead when Jon Taylor's wind-assisted cross dipped into Alex Cisak's net.

Ben Alnwick denied both Jobi McAnuff and Darius Henderson an equaliser, while Cisak saved from Jack Payne.

Marcus Maddison saw red late on for a foul on Luke O'Neill, but Posh moved up to eighth in the League One table.

Robertson, in temporary charge at the ABAX Stadium following Darren Ferguson's departure last month, has seen his side take nine points from three games to move level on points with sixth-placed Doncaster Rovers.

The O's, meanwhile, remained in the bottom four, but still only one point below Coventry following their home defeat by Port Vale.

Leyton Orient defender Scott Cuthbert told BBC Radio London 94.9:

"I think it was one of those days. It was a bit of a fluke goal, a cross that looks like it's going a mile over and then a gust of wind gets it and puts it in the top corner.

Cuthbert on Peterborough v Orient

"After that I think we kind of huffed and puffed but never really created too many chances especially when we went down to 10 men.

"The frustrating thing is we didn't give their defence any real problems."
