Jim McIntyre said his faith in Ross County had been justified after Jamie Reckord's second-half goal against Dundee earned the home side their third consecutive win.

Dundee had managed eight league games unbeaten prior to the match, but the Dingwall side grabbed a vital three points in the battle to avoid relegation.

"Right from the start we knew we were capable of winning matches but it was about trying to do it on a regular basis," McIntyre told BBC Scotland.

"We ground it out well, but on the balance of play I think we definitely had the better goal scoring opportunities and should have scored one or two more.

"It wasn't one for the purists. It was important that we made sure we kept winning battles and played the game in their half and I thought we done that for large periods of the game which then afforded us the opportunity to create some chances.

"All the games are tough, we know each team is capable of beating each other, it's about making sure you get the better of them."

Dundee manager Paul Hartley saw his side hold onto a top six spot despite the defeat but, with a large number of injuries affecting his side, he admitted they are vulnerable at the moment.

He said: "I didn't think we played well today. I don't think it was a great game of football. They've had better chances than us, our goalkeeper makes a couple of great saves.

"I thought overall we were disappointing after the run we've been on.

"It's a sore one to take but we've got to try and regroup again, get players back fit.

"We had a real patched up team today, we didn't carry big numbers, we've got too many players out - too many of our good players.

"You know when you come up here you're getting a tough game and it was that.

"We've got a few weeks off, we've got to get some players back fit. A little bit of rest then back to hard work."
