Rochdale 3-1 Scunthorpe United

Rochdale boosted their play-off bid with a convincing win over relegation-threatened Scunthorpe.

Michael Rose's inswinging free-kick missed everybody and drifted in to give the hosts the lead.

The visitors levelled after the break when Kevin van Veen fired in but parity was short-lived as Ian Henderson restored Dale's lead seconds later.

Keith Hill's side made it four wins from five games when Peter Vincenti headed in from Henderson's cross.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill told BBC Radio Manchester:

"It's special when you get a performance like that today. I though the performance was excellent and a great result, and that's 63 goals this season.

"They're a talented group, there's no doubt about that. But with talent you've got to have an application and address that with the players.

"That's where we have worked so hard to make sure the game in hand can be really significant.

"We've worked exceptionally hard or excessively hard to get to this point that it's a bonus game."

Scunthorpe United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I think we started off really brightly and we had a couple of really decent opportunities in the game.

"I thought we were put under pressure by them and they played well. They're a good side, Rochdale, when they move the ball quickly and brightly.

"If you don't give as good as you get then you come unstuck and ultimately that's what happened.

"We got ourselves back into the game after we conceded a poor, poor goal and it was one of their first efforts on goal. They got into a wide position and we've got to be better than that. "
