AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Portsmouth

AFC Wimbledon leapfrogged Portsmouth in the League Two table as Ben Chorley's own goal sealed a narrow Dons victory.

Pompey defender Chorley's wild swing from a Craig Tanner cross proved to be the game's decisive moment as Pompey probed, but rarely threatened.

Portsmouth's Matt Tubbs was denied a dream return to Kingsmeadow by fully-stretched Dons keeper Ross Worner.

Wimbledon came closest to adding to their lead when Adebayo Akinfenwa headed a corner against the bar.

Both sides remain in mid-table, with Wimbledon moving up to 12th and Portsmouth dropping a place to 13th.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley told BBC London 94.9:

"I didn't realise how strong the wind was against us, I would have taken 0-0 at half-time.

"To end a tough week with three points, we're over the moon.

"Over the next few weeks I've got to keep pushing them hard in training and not easing off. They'll get their time to recover and refresh their legs but I'm going to drive them hard over the next five weeks and see if we can finish as strong as we can."

Portsmouth boss Andy Awford told BBC Radio Solent:

"I'm disappointed with the result; that goes without saying. It was a game we felt we could come and take points from and we haven't.

"It's a goal that should be stopped. We have to do more with the amount of possession we have. We are disappointed with the lack of chances we created. It wasn't to be today.

"The new lads arrived Thursday evening and you can't do a lot of work in a training session on Friday. It takes time for them to get together and get the understanding going."
