Crusaders manager Stephen Baxter has signed a three-year contract extension after guiding the club to a first Irish Premiership title in 18 years.

The new deal will keep Baxter at Seaview until at least May 2019.

"When I got the call from former chairman Jim Semple 10 years ago I told him I would walk over hot coals for this club," said the 49-year-old.

"The last ten years have been tremendous, culminating with this year's title success."

"I am looking forward to further progression in the years to come," Baxter told the club website.

Crusaders will be presented with the Gibson Cup after Saturday's final league game against Glenavon at Seaview.

"We are over the moon that Stephen has committed himself to the club for a further three years," said club treasurer Tommy Whiteside.

"The amount of time Stephen puts into leading our club is phenomenal, considering his family and business commitments .

"He has brought the club unprecedented success over the last 10 years, winning every trophy along with progression in Europe."
