Brechin will play Alloa over two legs in their Championship play-off semi-final

Ray McKinnon has been named manager of the month in Scottish League One after an unbeaten April for Brechin City.

The 44-year-old's side won three matches in a row before drawing their final game during April.

It ensured that Brechin qualified for the play-offs and host Alloa Athletic, who finished second bottom of the Championship, in Wednesday's semi-final first leg.

City finished fourth, one point ahead of Airdrieonians.

That was despite losing their last game of the season, 3-1 at home to Stranraer.

The victory for Stranraer took them into second place, above Forfar Athletic, to secure themselves a home game in the second leg of their semi-final.

McKinnon, who played in midfield for 13 senior clubs, including Dundee United, Nottingham Forest, Aberdeen, Luton Town and Livingston, took charge of Brechin in 2012 after a spell in charge of junior outfit Lochee United.
