Portsmouth have appointed former Accrington boss and Chesterfield number two Leam Richardson as the club's new assistant manager.

He will once again link up with Pompey manager Paul Cook, as the pair worked together at the Spireites.

Ex-Kidderminster striker Ian Foster has also joined Cook as a first team coach.

"When the opportunity to join Pompey came along, it wasn't a decision I had to think about for too long," Richardson told the club website.

"I don't want to increase the pressure by making any promises, but hopefully there will be plenty of good times ahead."

The League Two club appointed Cook earlier this month after Chesterfield were knocked out of the League One play-offs.

Foster has managed Irish sides Galway and Dundalk and most recently worked as first team and development coach at Coventry.
