Scotland went down to a fighting 1-0 friendly defeat to France, one of the favourites for this summer's World Cup.

A makeshift Scottish side, missing Kim Little and Rachel Corsie, fell behind to Marie Laure Delie's header.

The Scots stuck to their task gallantly, and Fiona Brown tried an audacious effort that went wide from distance.

They had little joy in front of the French goal but defended resolutely in a creditable display in Nancy.

France will face England, Colombia and Mexico in Group F when the action in Canada kicks off next month.

Anna Signeul's side begin their European Championship qualifiers in September.
