Marlon Pack: Bristol City midfielder relishing Championship test
Bristol City midfielder Marlon Pack says he is relishing testing himself in the Championship next season.
Pack, 24, has made 98 appearances in two seasons as a City player, scoring three goals.
He signed a new contract on Monday and admitted he is looking forward to playing in England's second tier.
"It's something I'm itching to do," Pack told BBC Radio Bristol. "You always want to test yourself as a footballer and see how you compare."
City were promoted after winning the League One title in April and Pack says the squad are ready for the challenge awaiting them.
"It's going to be a step up for all of us," he said. "Better teams and better players, bigger stadiums and it is something we are all relishing,
"We are all young, we are all hungry and we all want to be playing in the highest league possible. It's a challenge we are looking forward to.
"I'm not just speaking about myself there are a lot of boys who haven't played at this level. I don't think that is a bad thing, a lot of us are more than capable of playing in it."
Pack also admitted the uncertainty over his contract had been playing on his mind, but with it now sorted he can concentrate on getting himself ready for the pre-season tour in Portugal.
He added: "I didn't speak to the gaffer about it until the last game of the season, where he pulled me to one side and said don't worry I'm going to sort you out."
